“B’more is about Running”

Whether you are in town for the night or a Baltimore local, the Charm City has some of the best running routes on the East Coast.

Starting at historic Fort McHenry, enjoy some of the “sole” of the city with a one-mile loop that surrounds the fort. With free parking, restrooms and water fountains on site, take your time to enjoy the sights of the Bay while you take a single trip around the loop or challenge yourself to multiple laps.

Looking for more of a challenge? Grab a parking spot along Federal Hill Park and take the waterfront by storm with a run though the Inner Harbor with distances of 1-15 miles. Starting at the Baltimore Science Center, follow your feet as you travel the path along the water past the National Aquarium, through Harbor East and finish strong running  the docks throughout Fells Point and Canton. If you complete all 15 miles, enjoy a water taxi ride back to your car, with pick up spots all along the route for less than $10.

Just past Harbor East is Patterson Park. This is one of the largest parks in the city, with parking all along its boarders. Patterson Park is home to a 1-6 mile loop. The challenging route features every elevation you can dream of, from flat smooth paths to steep hills. If you’re looking for a test of endurance, give this route a try.

Finally, take a trip to Druid Hill Park, located just north of the city along highway 83, adjacent to the Baltimore City Zoo. This route offers paths that connect to the famous Jones Fall Trail, one of the most famous running and biking routes in the city, extending from the zoo all the way to the Inner Harbor. With painted arrows and markers to guide you along your way, the trail is 1-10 miles in length and growing each year. If that’s not your  “cup of tea,” then look for the 1.5 mile loop that surrounds the Druid Hill reserve. It’s a smoot, flat loop to really improve those timing goals… Yet another one of Baltimore’s best kept secrets that has its fair share of FREE PARKING!
